What to look for in a monument provider
- A stable and honest business reputation
with a fulltime committment to selling monuments, & a committment
to the community.
- The ability to display a wide selection
of monuments both indoors and out, to help you see how the
finished monument will look.
- A knowledge of your cemetery's rules and
regulations, which could impact the size and type of monument
you choose. Your monument provider should know the area
well.
- The ability to listen, and to counsel, to
help make your decision easier. Your monument provider should
take the time to answer all of your questions, and should
not hasten you into making a decision before you are ready.
Avoid making a monumental mistake
Wait: Following the passing of a loved
one, allow some time before approaching a monument provider.
There is absolutely no need for haste, so wait awhile. You,
and only you will know when the time is right.
Don't order solely from pictures: Differences
in colour, finish and texture can only be appreciated by
seeing the real thing. Ordering from a catalogue will only
cause you disappointment.
Avoid carbon copies: A monument should
reflect the uniqueness of the life it represents, and not
mirror others in the cemetery. Your monument provider should
have the ability to manufacture, and customize your monument
on-site, where you can inspect it easily, and often.
